Khun Warren kindly sent this to me today, I am sure he would like to share it with you all. Thanks Warren
When I was in Suvarnabhumi (SVB) a few days ago I took the opportunity to see what was happening on the 25th of this month.
Nok Air, PB Air, SGA and Orient Thai-One Two Go will operate from Don Muang from this date.
Air Asia and Bangkok Airways will remain at SVB. Thai Airways are moving some of their flights to/from Chiang Mai back to Don Muang. It seems that TG flights that operate into Don Muang will have a ‘1’ prefix to the flight number and whereas flights to SVB will continue to use the airport code of BKK those operating to Don Muang will use DMK.
It is, of course, essential to know what airport flights will operate from especially if you are making an international connection. Thai Airways freely admit that they expect a lot of confusion until passengers become accustomed. Eventually they will all move back SVB as the cost to TG of having two operations (Engineering, catering, ground handling, ticketing, customer service etc etc) in Bangkok is a very expensive business.
By the way Gareth, Suvarnabhumi looks good and my bags were waiting for me on the belt by the time I reached the baggage hall. The taxi fare into town (Sathon area) from SVB is actually less than from Don Muang.
Warren.
